FEATURED VIDEO 01:

03:45. New York as Theme Park:

New York as portrayed in another way.

VIDEO 02:

10:18. 4 String Music:

Mountain Dulcimer:

I wanted to let go of my ambition, and sense of competition.

I set aside my guitar, and made musical sounds in some other way.

The mountain dulcimer was a new instrument for me, and I gave it a try.

It has Appalachian, Celtic, and Scottish roots.

I started to strum at it.

The idea is to make a sound that calms and relaxes.

I hope you like this recording.

VIDEO 03:

38:28. Background:

Improvised, experimental sounds by: Toru Hoshino (bass), and David Rapoport (guitar).

This recording was born, mostly out of the unknown.

This was our experience.

Recorded indoors, 2016.

Video efx.

I hope that you enjoy this recording.

VIDEO 04:

56:49. OSTODA 3:

We played into a digital tape recorder.

This trio is Osamu Fukuzaki (piano), David Rapoport (guitar), and Toru Hoshino (bass).

We made sounds that were unplanned (improvisation).

The tones and colors are reminiscent of ancient Sanskrit Bhajans.

It is live, in the rehearsal room, and was recorded, 2016.

I hope that you enjoy this a/v work.

VIDEO 05:

05:15. A Prayer:

Art is an excellent way to express one's feelings.

What I cannot say in words, I communicate with a song.

This work mostly about the past.

I wrote it when I was 15.

It is also in my thoughts now:

since it was more recently rearranged and recomposed (2010).

It is about the limitations of time.

I remember the days in high school (written 1975), when we played

this song, and other ones, for young people, in neighboring schools.

(2009) I joined the Satsang, playing Sanskrit Bhajans at:

Art of Living, European International Center, Bad Antogast, Germany.

This fantastic experience inspired me to

create this version: recorded in one take.

Jai GuruDeva.

Thinking About Art:

Art aesthetics are not the only thing. How does one measure this? I do not know how people will be affected by my art. I guess that it has to somehow strike a chord in them. This is especially true if they want to hang it in their house. I always thought that it is easier to sell an artwork to someone who has a lot of wall space.

The exploration happens right in front of the viewer. They see the work there, and they have some kind of response. Maybe they do not even notice the experience that they are having. Art is repetitive, and is there a possibility for something new? This newness is fresh, and big, and shows a fullness. As you look, your heart beats strong in your chest. Is this why people are in the art business?

I understand what art is. I can see it, and hear it, with my ears and eyes. I have no need to construct art, all of the time. Art is like breathing, and so I look and see whatever is there. The gold is the knowledge and wisdom gained from the practice. Art is grace. Art is of wonder. Art is giving. Art is life.

I am grateful for my ability to make objects of art. Art is self-indulgent. I hope that you like it, but I am not in control of that.
